Take part, refer, or support the research.
ENACT is a clinical research laboratory. Whichever way you arrive, here is what each door leads to.
Join a study
“I would like to take part.”
Our clinical trials are open to adults who match what each study is looking for. Taking part is voluntary: it starts with a short intake call, then screening, and you can withdraw at any time. If a study has not opened yet, you can ask to hear when it does.
Book an Intake CallRefer a Patient
“I’m a clinician referring a patient.”
Clinicians and providers can refer a patient to a study that is recruiting. Tell us about yourself, the patient, and the study you have in mind; our team looks at whether the study is a fit and follows up with you. A referral does not commit your patient to taking part.

“I would like to support the research.”
Three ways, for money, time, or attention: fund a study — gifts made through Yale University directly support ENACT’s research; collaborate with the lab — partnerships start with a conversation; or stay updated — an occasional letter on which studies are recruiting and what has published.

Most clinical trials leave out people with multiple diagnoses — but that is not how mental illness works in practice. Our research is designed around real-world patients, with people supported before, during, and after every session.
Every study is conducted under FDA oversight at Yale School of Medicine, with care teams of psychiatrists, physicians, and licensed therapists.
More about ENACTEvery clinical trial follows its own protocol. Here is how each one begins.
Fill out a form
A short intake form: your name, contact details, and the study or condition you’re interested in. Submitting it asks us for an intake call — nothing more.
Book an Intake CallAssessment
A brief 15–30 minute call with our team about your interest, your health history, and which study may be a fit. It’s a first look at whether a study is a fit, with no obligation.
Screening & preparation
Psychiatric and medical evaluation to confirm you meet the study’s criteria, then preparatory sessions with the study team so you know exactly what the study involves.
Joining the study
The study team goes through the consent form with you before anything begins. From here, every study follows its own protocol — sessions, assessments, and follow-ups differ by study, and your study team walks you through yours.
